Bougatsa from Smyrna (cream puff)





Our friend Ervilia sent us this recipe. She said it is perfect, very easy to make and economic. We never say no to tested recipes! Thank you very much!



Ingredients:
1 puff pastry
5 eggs
1 glass of sugar
2 vanilines
200 gr fresh butter


Directions:

We preheat the oven at 180 degrees. We melt the butter and apply some of it to the baking pan. We separate the leafs of the puff pastry one by one and put them wrinkled inside the pan. . Be careful, don't put them the one upon the other, put them side by side, only very wrinkled. When we put them all to the baking pan, we use a spoon to sprinkle them all over with butter. We put them in the oven for 12 minutes, until they turn golden. In the meanwhile we prepare the cream. In a bowl we break the eggs and we add the vanilines and sugar bit by bit, whisking them . We mix them, leaving milk for last. After we have added the milk we keep whisking until we have an even mixture and the sugar has melted. We take the pan out of the oven and spread the cream on top. We put it back in the oven until the cream becomes thick. We sprinkle with icing sugar and cinnamon.
