Let's get to know Feng shui

What does it mean?

Feng shui is a concept rather misunderstood. It certainly is opposite to the western way of thinking, but it also has been introduced as magic, by cunning imposters who have used it to make money. I started reading about it about a decade ago. I am no expert. I just have done my research and I like the practice of it. Since I have no artistic inclination and I cannot brag about my tidiness, feng shui came as a solution. 
My husband that laughs at all this kind of staff and thinks they are equal to witch-hunting, doesn't object to my feng shui practicing, since it demands the house to be tidy and minimalistic. I will share with you the basic idea of fang shui and in next posts we might get a little deeper to the theory, the practices and general secrets of this different point of view. Feng shui isn't magic. It cannot solve our problems. There won't be a treasure landing on our door step, nor will all our illnesses be cured. Basically it aims for balance and harmony. In everything. The environment, family, work, home. It studies the energy, the chi, that is constantly moving. And it uses five basic elements to tranquilize that energy and use it to someone's advantage. These elements are: earth, water, fire, wood and metal. What is good or bad for someone has to do with many aspects. A building might be compatible with me but not with someone else. What determines that? Mostly its orientation.
